Our mission

At some point in our lives, we’ve all relied on someone, somewhere, to look beyond our nerves or lack of experience, catch a glimpse of our true potential and offer us an opportunity that will set our career into motion. Together with The King's Trust, we want to do just that, by providing real employment opportunities that enable each individual to build their skills, confidence and self-esteem, regardless of their background.

What we've achieved so far

Since the start of our partnership, Boots have supported over 600 young people through their Get into Retail, Get into Customer Care, Get into Warehousing programmes and 'World of Work' insight days, providing opportunities for young people to develop their skills and confidence to enter the workplace.

We have also worked in partnership with The King's Trust and the Department for Work and Pensions to deliver support and training for young people joining Boots through the government's 'kickstart' programme, which launched in April 2021.

Over the 5 years of partnership, Boots has donated over £3 million to The King's Trust, enabling them to support thousands of young people across the UK to improve their prospects through free employability and personal development programmes. Find out more about how King's Trust can help.

Annabelle's experience

Annabelle

Annabelle was one of the first young people to take part in a Boots and King's Trust programme. After successfully completing a 2-week work placement, she was offered a role as a No7 Advisor in a Boots flagship store.

"It felt amazing and I was so proud because they said I was really confident, which I thought I wasn’t and this really gave me a boost. This will always be a special experience in my life… I am really glad about the fact that I joined this programme because it was a great opportunity for youngsters like me. This experience was great, I learned and gained a lot.”

Community impact

As part of our partnership, we want to help transform the lives of young people across the UK by providing meaningful opportunities for them to develop their skills, confidence, and self-esteem – and this event was no different.

Open to young people in Nottinghamshire who are members of the LGBTQ+ community and allies, our 2-day programme was all about providing a safe space to celebrate and learn about Pride, connect with peers facing similar challenges, and discover the support that’s available through our partnership. They discovered our 'Get Into' work experience programmes in partnership with The King's Trust and other career opportunities available at Boots. In preparation for Notts Pride, the young people got creative, designing their own Pride flags and capes. Zack and Shayeri, our Boots Beauty Specialists, and Elona, a Benefit Beauty Expert, from our Victoria Centre, Nottingham store also hosted a colourful makeup masterclass with free goody bags, to make sure the young people were feeling confident and Pride-ready.
