Choosing your sunglasses
A great pair of sunglasses should not only look good, but it is important they protect your eyes too. From cat eye to aviator styles, tinted lenses to polarised lenses & with 100% UVA & UVB protection, we can help keep your eyes protected as well as stylish, without compromising on what makes you, you!
Why do I need sunglasses?
Wearing sunglasses plays an important part in minimising the risk of damaging your eyes.
It turns out that our eyes are up to 10 times more sensitive to UV damage than our skin. From cataracts, where the lens gradually clouds, & your vision becomes blurry, to macular degeneration, where the central part of your vision fades, exposing our eyes to UV light could have damaging long-term effects.

How do I choose the best sunglasses for me?
Like your sun cream, sunglasses should have the right amount of UVA & UVB protection. Here at Boots Opticians, you can rest assured that all of our sunglasses meet the International Standard EN ISO 12312-1:2013.
Plus, all of our sunglasses are available with prescription or non-prescription lenses. An eye test isn’t always needed, just bring a valid prescription within two years along with you.

See what’s possible with extra features that you can add to your sunglasses to help with activities like driving or your favourite sporting activities.
Polarised lenses
These lenses help to reduce glare such as when light reflects off surfaces like roads, water & windows. A great option for daytime driving & outside sports. For an additonal £70, we can add polarised lenses to most of our frames.
Tinted lenses
Although the colour of your tint won’t affect the level of UV protection, tints can help reduce eye strain, improve contrast & enhance depth awareness. From green, grey & brown to mirrored blue & silver, our in-store opticians will help you choose a tint that’s right for your lifestyle.
