Are you struggling to do eyeliner due to your vision? Or you perhaps you have glasses & are struggling with eye makeup. If you're looking for inspiration on how to apply makeup as a glasses wearer, or you are looking to assist a glasses wearer with their makeup, we've gathered top tips from our No7 global makeup artist & educator to help you bring out favourite features.

Bring out your eyes

Take care of your skin care

If you struggle with smudginess around your eyes, especially when wearing your glasses, then the first step is to take care of your skin care.

•  Keep your day cream to your cheekbone

People often put their day cream a little bit too high into the eye area. Instead, we recommend you to keep your day cream to your cheekbone. By doing so, you'll find that there's less oil around the eye, which contributes to breaking down your makeup.

•  Wear an eye cream

An eye cream has been specially formulated for that delicate skin around your eyes. We would recommend not taking the eye cream, right up under the lashes, instead, using your ring finger you can gently pat around the orbital bone. This will help hydrate the skin around your eyes by drawing the moisture in. The excess oil in that area contributes to the breakdown of your mascara, your eyeliner, or anything else that you're wearing, as oil is the biggest factor to breaking down makeup.

Conceal under the eye

If you want your eyes to stand out, especially when you're wearing glasses, as your eyes are less prominent, you will want to conceal under the eye. For concealer, we would recommend the the No7 Lift and Luminate concealer & going two shades lighter than your skin tone so that really brightens up the area.

You can then add concealer onto anywhere shadowy under the eye, making sure to take it right up under the lashes to get rid of any redness, shadowiness or purple tones, as well as the inner corner of the eye. If you have applied your concealer with a brush, you can then gently tap the area using your ring finger to blend it out.

Using powder

You can use power to reduce any smudginess or creasing further, especially if you've concealed under the eyes. We would recommend using the No7 Flawless Finishing Loose Powder.

By tapping a small amount into the lid & with a fluffy brush, you can pick up a small amount & tap off my excess on the brush. Start by working from the outer corner through to the inner corner, under the eye & over the lid, smoothing away any creases as you go. Powder is there to absorb the oil that's responsible for breaking down your makeup which makes it crease & smudge.

Add definition to your eyes

If you feel like you're lacking definition to your eyes, a tiny bit of darker eyeshadow placed in the right place is a great way to bring that definition back & make your eyes stand out whilst wearing the glasses.

We recommend using the deep brown shade from the No7 Eye Shadow Palette & adding just a small amount to an angled brush. Using an angled brush, you just need to tap along  This is our along the lash line, getting thicker as you get to that outer corner, as you bring it out into a soft wing. Using eyeshadow for eyeliner is an easy & fast way to get that added definition to your eyes. Some people also like to have a thicker eyeliner if they have thicker framed glasses.

Lashes

If you find that your mascara is smudging, a waterproof mascara can help with that. We recommend the No7 The Full 360 Waterproof Mascara. This mascara is going to help give volume & length without the smudge or the crumbling down the face.

If you're finding that you get that an indent on the bridge of your nose where your glasses sit, then here's some top tips for that.

1)      When you're applying your skin care, avoid that area when putting on your day cream. So once you've cleaned your skin & completed your skin care, you will want very minimal amounts in that area.

2)      Take some eyeshadow primer on your ring finger & place that on the side of your nose

3)      Eyeshadow primer is a more effective formula compared to a face primer because it's meant to prevent the sweat & oil from coming through on your eyelid.

4)      Once you have added primer, take your chosen concealer or foundation & pop it on top.

5)      Taking the same powder as before, you can then pack plenty in that area

6)      The last area to check is the nose pads on your glasses. Give them a really good clean & make sure there's no oil or dirt left on them before you pop your glasses on next.

•  If you find your eye lashes are brushing against your lenses, curling your eyelashes with an eyelash curler before applying mascara can help to avoid this. Plus, using a volumizing mascara rather than a lengthening one can help to create a dramatic look without them brushing against your lenses

•  Eyebrows are a great way to frame your face. You can help them look groomed by gently combing them through. A coat of brow gel can help to keep them in place. If you want to add more definition to them, you can also fill them in with a brow pencil.
