With so many vitamins & supplements out there, it can be hard to know what each one does. Here we chat through seven that are designed to support your energy, along with a few helpful tips on putting tiredness to bed
Life can often feel like it’s served up with a side of tiredness, can’t it? Whether it’s from lack of sleep, an active lifestyle or keeping up with that never-ending to-do-list, our energy levels can sometimes dip, and we’re left feeling drained and less rested than we’d like.
Whilst it can be tempting to reach for caffeine or energy drinks when you’re feeling tired, these usually tend to give you a temporary boost before leading to an inevitable caffeine crash (hello afternoon slump). So, eating a healthy and balanced diet should always be your first port of call for helping to keep your energy levels up. After all, food is the fuel our bodies need to turn proteins, carbohydrates, and other good stuff into energy.
You should be able to get most of the essential vitamins, minerals and nutrients you need from a varied diet, but sometimes this isn’t possible, and you may want to consider a supplement.* Read on for our round-up of seven vitamins and supplements to help support your energy…

What else can I do to support my energy?
There are also a number of other things you can do to help support your energy levels, including:
Staying active – moderate and frequent exercise can help you feel less tired in the long-run, so it’s a great idea to incorporate this into your routine. Start small and build up gradually. We’ve got plenty of tips to help you here.
Stick to a regular sleep routine – if your bedtime is constantly changing, then that could be why you’re feeling tired. Going to sleep and waking up at the same time every day can help your body fall into a natural rhythm and a more regular sleep cycle. The better-quality sleep you have, the more rested you’ll feel.
Eat regular meals – it’s always best to try to eat regularly throughout the day rather than eating a large meal less often. Try to stick to three main meals with some healthy snacks in between if needed, and don’t skip out on breakfast! Our bodies need it to refuel in the morning.
Rethink what you drink – we’re talking about caffeine and alcohol. Caffeine can give you a temporary burst of energy, but its effects wear off and our bodies can become reliant upon it, so try to cut out caffeine altogether or gradually reduce your intake. Similarly, alcohol before bedtime may make you fall asleep faster, but you won’t sleep as deeply, which means you won’t feel as rested the next day. Instead, up your intake of water to help you stay well-hydrated throughout the day.
When to see your GP
If you feel like you’re suffering from an overwhelming level of tiredness that isn’t helped by sleep or rest, then this could be fatigue or an indication of an underlying medical condition. It’s best to make an appointment with your GP who can advise further.
