Understanding more about hypertension
Hypertension - more commonly known as high blood pressure - is a serious condition where your heart has to consistently work harder to pump blood around your body. High blood pressure typically doesn't have any symptoms and the only way to know if you have hypertension is to have it checked. If untreated, the arteries can stiffen and narrow, making it easier for fatty material to clog them up and cause heart and circulatory diseases such as heart attack or stroke. This is a paid service. This is not an NHS service, some patients in England are eligible for a FREE NHS blood pressure check at their local pharmacy, click here to check if this applies to you.
Across selected stores in Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and one store in England, you can have your blood pressure checked by one of our healthcare professionals. You will receive personalised advice following the consultation, and a copy of your results and advice to take away.
The service is available to adults, aged 18 and over. This service is not suitable for pregnant women who will be eligible for a free blood pressure check as part of routine check-ups. The service is also not suitable for those with a diagnosis of atrial fibrillation or an irregular heartbeat.

The appointment will take around 15 minutes.
Our healthcare professional will take blood pressure readings from each arm. This can be completed through light layers of clothing, however thicker materials will have to be removed.
