From bold lips to ballet-inspired blush, these are this year’s hottest wedding make-up looks…

With wedding season officially in full swing, brides all over the country will be carefully curating their perfect wedding day look. From finalising the dream dress to settling on the right hair style, there are so many decisions to make in the run up to the big day.

Choosing a make-up look is no exception, which is why we’ve put together a guide to this year’s hottest wedding make-up trends. Whether you want to go blushing or bronzed, read on to find a look that will take you down the aisle and onto the dancefloor.

1. The glowy bride

Whether you’re getting hitched in the British countryside, at your local town hall or on a beach abroad, the glowy make-up trend is perfect for brides who want a fresh, natural look. Hello radiance!

This look is all about that gorgeous dewy glow, so start by popping on a make-up serum. We love LANEIGE’s Glowy Makeup Serum for a luminous glass skin effect. Next up, you’ll want to grab a lightweight foundation for a bright but flawless finish. IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC+ Cream Illumination not only gives you glowy skin, but it hydrates and protects you too!

Next, swipe on a pop of pink with a subtle blusher. The Revolution Bright Light Blush Drops in Rosie Pink are great for creating a natural flush of colour, plus the liquid texture adds to that dewy complexion. Finally, brush a highlighter on all of the highest points of your face to add a natural glow – try MAC Mineralize Skinfinish for a lovely buildable shimmer.

For the eyes, you’ll want to go for soft, neutral tones. Morphe 9T Neutral Territory Artistry Palette is packed with nine different nude shades to choose from. And finally, finish off your look with a slick of mascara – Benefit They’re Real Lengthening Mascara is great for long, luscious lashes that last all day!

2. The ballet-core bride

Pirouetting might not be in your repertoire, but the ballet-core make-up trend is a very easy look to nail! Sported by the likes of Hayley Bieber and Selena Gomez, this look is all about embracing romance (and your inner ballerina).

First up, create a lovely fresh base with a light foundation or tinted moisturiser. bareMinerals Complexion Rescue Tinted Moisturiser is ideal for building coverage while also adding a boost of hydration.

For the main event, you’ll want to go for pinks or peach across the cheeks, eyes and lips. If you prefer a powder blush, we love DIOR Backstage Rosy Glow Blush. And if liquid blush is more your thing, 17. Blush Drops, in Pink Candy are perfect for nailing that blushing ballerina look.

For the eyes, the Morphe 9 Pan Rose to Fame Artistry Palette has a gorgeous range of pinks, peaches and sparkles. You’ll then want to add a slick of your fave mascara for long, fluttery lashes.

Finish off the look with glossy pink lips. Too Faced Kissing Jelly Lip Oil Gloss in Raspberry is perfect for a fuchsia pop, or if you’re after a more subtle tone, try MAC Cremesheen Lipstick in Crème Cup.

Top tip: Pair it with a slicked bun for the ultimate bridal ballerina look!

3.    The bronzed bride

The latte make-up trend has absolutely exploded over the last year (thank you Sabrina Carpenter), and brides are definitely embracing the bronzed look for 2024.

To start, prep your skin with a trusty primer – we like Milk Makeup Hydro Grip Primer. Next up, pop on some foundation for a dewy base, NARS Sheer Glow Foundation is great for a smooth, bright finish.

Of course, this trend is all about lovely coffee-inspired hues, so next, dust on your fave bronzer. Benefit Hoola Bronzer is perfect for creating a summer-time glow (whatever the season). Add a touch more radiance to your cheeks with a highlighter – we like Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick Compact Highlighter.

Next up, swipe bronze and brown tones across your lids too. Sculpted Bare Basics Palette in Nude 101 not only comes with three gorgeous eyeshadows, but it also includes a bronzer, blush and highlighter. Perfect for those minimalist brides who are after a 4-in-1!

Finish off the eyes with winged liner. Kylie Cosmetics Kyliner Gel Pencil in Matte Brown is perfect for this, and then complete the look with a slick of gloss on the lips. We recommend Fenty Beauty Gloss Bomb Universal Lip Luminizer in Fenty Glow for a gorgeous nude pout!

4.    The bold bride

Hey, it’s your wedding day, why not make a statement? Whether you go for a classic red or a dramatic purple, bold lips are super in for brides this season – plus they look amazing on camera!

First up, slick on a lip primer. MAC Prep + Prime Lip is great for a smooth application – and it really helps the colour pop!

Next, line the lips for extra definition. If you’re going for the scarlet look, we love NYX Professional Makeup Lip Liner Pencil in Hot Red. Or if purple is more your thing, e.l.f. Cream Glide Lip Liner comes in a stunning shade of Plum & Get It.

And finally, slick on a luscious lipstick in your chosen shade. MAC Lustreglass Sheer-Shine Lipstick comes in a whole array of bold colours, including Succumb to Plump (dark purple) and TNTeaser (bright red).

Top tip: Match your nails with your lips for double the colour!

How to keep your make-up fresh beyond the ‘I do’s’

Pre-wedding day

No matter how good your foundation is, the best base really is great skin so make sure to prep it ahead of the big day. Hopefully you’ve already got a decent skincare routine down, but make sure to keep it consistent.

Remember too that hydrating products are your friend – whether that be moisturisers, serums or masks.

We’d also recommend regular facials (either at home or with a dermatologist), plus a healthy diet and lots of sleep is key for happy, healthy skin.

On your wedding day

A good grip and set duo is a necessity when it comes to keeping your make-up in place on the big day. Pre-make-up, pop on a trusty primer and once you’ve perfected your look, spritz on some setting spray. We love e.l.f. Power Grip Primer and Dewy Setting Spray for looks that last all day.

Whether you’re outside in the sun or throwing some shapes on the dancefloor, you’re bound to get a little sweaty at some point in the day. Keep some blotting paper on hand in case you need to quickly deal with a little shine – our Boots Skin Clear Oil Absorbing Sheets are perfect for mattifying skin.

You never know when the happy tears might hit on your wedding day, so using a waterproof mascara is always a great idea. We’d also recommend bringing a mini make-up bag for touch-ups throughout the day if needed – Maid of Honour, we’re looking at you here.

Other than that, just enjoy yourself. You’re going to look gorgeous no matter what, and thanks to our handy guide, you’re now ready to nail whichever 2024 wedding day trend you choose. Here comes the bride!
