Here’s what you need to know

Helping to tackle hygiene poverty one donation at a time, The Hygiene Bank collects personal care products and redistributes them to local charities. Just like The Hygiene Bank, we believe that everyone has the right to feel good, and access to essential toiletries shouldn’t stop that.

How can I donate?

Working alongside this trailblazing charity, we’ve installed donation points by the side of the tills in over 700 of our Boots stores as of September 2023. Find your nearest donation point here

We have launched e-vouchers on Boots.com so you can donate directly to The Hygiene Bank to help people living in hygiene poverty. By purchasing this product, it makes a donation of £3.00£5.00 or £10.00 dependent upon your selection, to The Hygiene Bank which helps to provide essential hygiene products to people across the UK experiencing poverty. 100% of your donation through Boots will go to The Hygiene Bank.

What can I donate?

The Hygiene Bank accepts donations of new, unused and in-date toiletries – including hygiene, beauty and personal care essentials.

“Adding an extra toothpaste every now and then to your shop will probably not make much difference to most people, but to somebody who doesn’t have it, it’s life changing.”- Lizzy Hall, Founder of The Hygiene Bank

Here’s a list of things you can donate:

• Sanitary pads and tampons
• Shampoo and conditioner
• Cleansers, creams and body wash
• Deodorant
• Toothpaste and toothbrushes
• Disposable razors and nail files
• Nappies and baby wipes
• Washing powder
• Plasters
• Hairbrush and hair ties
• Loo roll and tissues

If you want to help, rummage through your bathroom cabinets at home and see what you can donate.

What happens with my donation?

Once we’ve gathered your donations, The Hygiene Bank redistributes the products to schools, charities, local authority services and voluntary organisations to help those in need regain their dignity and confidence.

Watch the video below and hear from Polly – one of The Hygiene Bank’s Project Co-ordinators – about how your donations help people in need.
