The European regulation to prohibit animal testing has been in place since 2009 and fully enforced in 2013*. However, in other parts of the world, some countries require post-market testing. In order to obtain the Leaping Bunny certification, the brand must prove that none of the finished products in its ranges and their individual ingredients have been tested on animals at any point in the development process anywhere in the world and that they have also set up a monitoring system through their supply chain to continuously monitor supplier compliance.
At Boots, we have set and maintained our own high standards over many years and have actively held ourselves to account to be able to reassure our customers that you can buy and use our products with confidence that they have not been tested on animals. We do not tolerate animal testing and have not conducted any animal testing on products or on ingredients used in our own brand cosmetics and toiletry products for many years, decades ahead of the European ban coming into place and we encourage our customers to understand the definitions on pack.
