We recently sat down with the social media star himself, founder of MBM and globally renowned make-up artist, Mitchell Halliday (or @Mmmmitchell to those in the know), to chat all things make-up. We dive into the inspirations behind the brand, Mitchell’s favourite beauty trends and his best pieces of beauty advice. Plus, he talks us through his top six MBM products and exactly how to use them!
1. What was the inspiration behind Made by Mitchell?
“The inspo really was about creating products, formulas and most importantly shades, that were missing on the market. Never in my wildest dreams did I think we would reach where we are now. Including all has always been the main driver of MBM, but now it’s more than ever.”
2. Tell us about your brand – when did you create it, how many products did you start with, what are the ambitions for MBM in the future?
“We started the brand with a real heavy collection, many products and many purposes – from formulas to organisation for MUA’s. My two most important priorities with the brand are to always put first the ideas of formulas and functionality. I think the industry is over gimmicks and to be honest, so am I. I want products that work, that are accessible and also affordable, and make it easy to involve yourself in the world of MBM – whether you are a MUA or a make-up lover.”
3. What are some of your favourite beauty trends?
“I’m not really one to follow trends, I usually like to create them. But I think the most important trend is just being yourself. Creating your own rules and your own beauty standards. That to me, is the only trend that is sustainable and relatable for all.”
4. Who are your biggest inspirations – both personally & professionally
“My team inspire me every day, they work so hard and all bring such strong and unique perspectives to what we are creating. Personally, the people who inspire me are my family. They are the reason I do what I do.”
5. What’s your best piece of beauty advice?
“BE YOURSELF. BE PROUD. BE FEARLESS.”
6. What’s your favourite product from the range?
“My personal favourite would have to be A Shy Boy BLURSH. But my proudest project so far has to be the Curve Cases. They really allowed everyone – no matter what skin tone or type or even ability – to create a professional MUA-inspired glam. We really started a revolution with our Curve Cases.”
