As we dive into the best summer 2024 make-up trends, it's all about making a bold statement with minimal effort. From vibrant lip shades to eye-catching mascaras, these trends will keep you looking fresh and fabulous all summer long.

Statement lip shades feel fresher when worn with barely anything else. Make your vacation make-up easy but impactful with a swipe of matte orange lipstick. “Your lip will last longer if you start by outlining and filling in your lips with a matching liner before applying lipstick, then keep everything else pared back. I love to team textures, so if your lip is matte, use a creamy bronzer,” says James O’Riley, the make-up artist behind these looks.

Coloured mascara is summer’s sleeper hit. Instead of TikTok burgundy, try a flattering blue. For an eye-popping look, James suggests applying multiple layers to both top and bottom lashes. For just a hint of everyday colour, apply a coat or two of your regular black and finish with a topcoat of blue.

“Take your lashes to the next level with Maybelline Lash Sensational Sky High Mascara in Blue Mist. Apply the mascara from root to tip and watch your lashes go sky high,” says Amy Jessop, Boots Beauty Specialist.

For a summertime alternative to contouring with bronzes, reach for lighter shades of peach and apricot. “Blend it onto and under your cheekbones and around your eyes, keeping your T-zone matte to emphasise the contour. A slick of brown mascara is all this look needs to finish,” explains James.

“The peaches and cream look is a great way to sculpt your face, while keeping it fresh and sunkissed. The product I would use for this is Fenty Beauty Cheeks Out Freestyle Cream Blush in Peach Face. Swirl it onto the cheeks with a fluffy brush for a subtle effect,” advises Olivia Clarke, Boots Beauty Specialist.

Surprisingly flattering, a bold burst of yellow brings light and luminosity to the face and it’s easy to ramp up or down. “Apply with a brush and blend above your socket for maximum impact like our model or just keep it close to your lash line for a subtler look,” says James. For added staying power, prep your eyes with a primer.

Make your blusher the focus of your look with a hot pink shade. “Create a modern watercolour flushed look by blending a bold shade to the outer eye area, the high points of your cheeks and up into your hairline,” says James. “Simplicity is key here, so just add a light coat of mascara and a lip balm.”

“The r.e.m. Beauty Hypernova Satin Matte Blush in Strawberry Nebula, is great for that fuchsia blush. It’s flattering on different skin tones and you can be as intense as you wish. Top tip is to tap off the excess from your brush before applying,” explains Lucy Findlater, Boots Beauty Specialist.
